MP3
A proprietary file format for encoding audio files to achieve very small file size while maintaining high audio quality. For example, a minute of audio stored in a .wav file would take about 10 MB. The same audio encoded in an .mp3 file would be about 10% of the size, 1 MB, while the audio quality would only be marginally reduced.
